"Total Waste of Space"

About: Edgware Community Hospital

I had been having problems with my foot leaving it swollen and difficult to walk on. After a year of going back and forth to my doctors I was referred to the orthopedic dept at this hospital for tests. It took over a year to get seen by the consultant! Every time they booked an appointment it would get cancelled and replaced with a new date. I have a stack of letters from them. When I finally did see the consultant it was recommended that I get an injection in my foot to resolve the problem. This was to be done at the hospital under general anaesthesia. I had all the tests to make sure that this was ok and booked a few days away from my self employed business because of the after effects. On the morning of the operation it was decided they felt that this procedure would be risky with anaesthesia at that hospital. I wasn't at all impressed considering the battery of tests I had received before hand. The consultant suggested that it was done under local anaesthetic instead and insured me that the pain would be minimal like getting an injection at the dentist. I was a fool to believe this and I have to say it was agony. Believe me I have had very major operations in the past with no complaint. To say I was angry that I had been put in this position was an understatement. A follow up was due three months after the operation but of course that actually was cancelled as per my experience with all the other appointments and I was finally seen five months after the procedure for a check up. Of course it had made not a blind bit of difference. To make matters worse the elusive consultant was nowhere to be seen and I was instead seen by a junior who had nothing to add as feet were not their specialty. Total waste of time wish I had gone private. I have now told that team that I have no intention of seeing them ever again and will be choosing another consultant to work with in the future. Shocking Service.
