"eye-pressure tests"

About: Moorfields Eye Hospital (City Road Campus)

A relative with high pressure in the eyes had their pressure checked recently by a technician who had earlier checked the visual field. The pressure reading was abnormally high. The doctor later checked and found an acceptable reading. It seemed the technician, in opening the eyelids wide, had exerted pressure from their fingers. Is it medically acceptable for eye pressure to be checked by a technician?

I'm sorry to hear about this. It certainly sounds like there may be an issues that needs investigating. I will pass your comments to the clinic management team, but it would be helpful to have more details to look into this. If you would like us to do so, please contact our patient advice and liaison service (PALS) via pals@moorfields.nhs.uk. They will be able to look into the specifics of your case.
