"No care in the NHS? What a laugh!"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Urology (Ward 28)

(as the patient),

I was admitted to ward 28 of the Royal Alexandra, Paisley on the in July. I found that the nursing staff, in spite of their heavy workload, managed to maintain an exuberant manner whilst preserving their professionalism. Their laughter was received with relish and was infectious throughout the ward. I believe the jovial atmosphere in our room played a large part in aiding our recovery.

I would particularly like to mention Karen for her efforts above and beyond the call of duty in keeping me and my family updated at all times throughout my stay. Also thanks to Margaret, affectionately known as "the Grumpy one", for her alternatively humorous style of care which was appreciated by all.

I can see how busy the RA is but have a sneaky suspicion that people may be getting themselves admitted just for the laugh. In conclusion my experience has reassured me that there is still care in the NHS - an abundance of it in the Royal Alexandra in Paisley. Thanks to all.

I work in a small team in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde which seeks to involve patients and carers in the work of the NHS. The biggest part of my role is in managing feedback projects across the Board area, one of which is Patient Opinion. It is my job to give our patients and carers the opportunity to give us feedback, and to make sure that this is passed to the right people to help us improve the services we provide.

Dear Nilbymouth,

This was such a lovely bit of feedback to read! It's clear that the staff who cared for you managed to strike the perfect balance of keeping things lighthearted and upbeat while maintaining their professionalism so you know you are well looked after. What a great team! I know they will be just as pleased as I am that you have taken the time to send in such lovely comments - I'll make sure that Karen, Margaret and the rest of the team get to hear about the impact they have made.

Many thanks,

Lorna
