What I liked i like the cleanliness of the antenatal clinic, and the midwife i saw was very friendly and helpful. that is about it. i am currently 34 weeks pregnant and had to attend 2 weeks ago to an antenatal appt after being transferred from my local hospital to bwh's care. even though i took my green notes with me they insisted i needed to be booked in with them on a new set of notes and go through the usual procedures of height weight and blood pressure measurement, i waited 3 and a half hours in a hot and uncomfortable and crowded waiting room before seeing anyone. i didnt even see the consultant i was booked to see. my blood pressure was taken, and my bump measured and was told to come back in 4 weeks to discuss further options, i told the consultant that i felt uneasy at travelling on public transport for over an hour and a half at 36 weeks pregnant to attend an appointment. he wasnt at all concerned for my fears ( my mother went into premature labour at 32 weeks and it was playing on my mind) so i was annoyed with this wasted journey as i had been told that my birth and management plan would be discussed and finalised on this day. one laughable moment was when the consultant advised that if any sign of prem labour presented itself i should call my local delivery suite, however the very rude receptionist had placed a huge sticker over the important number for my local suite..... i even expressed my fears of not knowing what was going to happen delivery wise with my baby until this 36 week appt, but again he was not interested. so as you can see i am really looking forward to delivering my baby at BWH..... What could be improved? i believe that my local hospitals way of booking in a new patient saves time and money. we are visited by a midwife, or we can attend her clinic, she starts off the green notes, and sends us a scan appt in due course. there was no 3 hour wait. so how can BWH be doing this better than my local midwife. Anything else? i just hope that my next visit provides a better experience of the hospital so i can relax about the birth of my baby. i will post a comment after the birth, and i really hope it is a positive one :) i have to add that you cannot fault the cleanliness of this hospital i have no fears about MRSA or anything like that, and as i said the midwives i saw on that day were really helpful. shame the consultants dont have the same compassion!
