Quite unexpectedly I found myself in A&E in Winchester on Wednesday night. It was horrendously busy and I was initially seen after waiting for one hour. However I had to wait for more tests and was eventually seen just over 3 hours later (midnight) Once I got through to be seen again by the doctors they were very caring, efficient and spoke clearly about what they were going to do. I was advised to stay in hospital overnight and this all went smoothly with the change of staff and everyone introducing themselves. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the ward. I was in McGill Acute Medical Unit - E Bay). I was the youngest in the Ward (66 years old) and was treated with kindness, dignity and respect. The other older patients in the Ward were also treated the same. I was very impressed with the Staff and they all made time to make me as comfortable as possible whilst still doing their job. The breakfast and lunch I had were quite pleasant and lunch was very hot. A member of staff came around on a regularly basis to offer hot drinks and refresh the water. I left just after lunch the next day with a clean bill of health. Thank you very much to all the staff.
"Much better than expected"
