"Angiogram Procedure"

About: Airedale General Hospital

I attended Airedale Hospital on the 6th July 2015 for an Angiogram....although having to be there for 7am was early I understand the need to have everyone and everything in place to ensure the smooth running of the day....the ward staff were lovely very friendly and competant...the small ward of 4 people ideal for such a procedure...only hiccup at this stage was that my bloods and mrsa swab results had not reached Airedale after being at my doctors prior to addmittence...they were quickly done again to ensure my slot as 2nd on the list was not delayed....it wasnt....the cardiologist visited all there to explain procedure and their confident manner certainly made me feel better...especially after reading all the literature that came with my appointment...enough to scare anyone. I walked down to theatre with the porter and sat outside waiting my turn...after reading all the literature i had thought the procedure took an hour which in itself was scary...another gentleman soon joined me waiting who was even more nervous than me...a theatre nurse came out to explain that the patient in front of us had taken much longer than normal and that actually it normally only takes about 15 mins...that they took the trouble to come out to explain that was great. Once inside and sensing my nervousness the whole of the team couldnt have been better...they are very proffessional....extremely reassurring especially the nurse who told me to keep my eyes open and to focus on them and our conversation...I found that extremely beneficial and am very grateful. The procedure whilst slightly uncomfortable did not hurt and was over far quicker than i thought...So to all the team in the theatre i say a very big Thank You and keep up the good work....as i was wheeled back to the ward i managed to reassure the man who was next in that it was absolutly nothing to worry about....once back on the ward some toast and my idea of a very perfect brew (builders tea remembered from one made earlier ) miraculously appeared by my side and was gratefully recieved....I was there a few more hours while some checks were done at set intervals including releasing air out of the pressure band on my arm at the entry site...I have had no issues with the site since save from some bruising and aching. If you find yourself needing to have this procedure rest assured if you are going to Airedale Hospital from my experience you will be very well looked after.
