I would like to say thank you to all the staff working in children's A&e on the evening of Friday 17th July! Unfortunately my daughter injuried herself and when I arrived at your hospital I knew we would be in for a long wait! There were atleast 30 other children in the waiting room when we arrived. We were seen very promptly and treated by the nurse and Doctors after my daughter had what was described as a 'banana' arm. I can not fault the care we received. The team work between the nurse and doctors was incredible. There didn't seem to be any of the usual hierarchy you would expect! I would like to express how greatful we were to the nurse working that night! Not only were they working alone but they did so with calm and ease. It must be incredibly hard to work single handed in such a busy and fast paced environment however not once did they seem affected. They even took the time to comfort my daughter whilst having her arm plastered and made her feel better by plastering her teddies arm too so that they were the same. It was evident they loved their job and wasn't phased by the stress of doctors asking them for lots of different treatments as well as seeing the sick children as they walked through the door. The only down side to this hospital is the lack of space. Unfortunately the waiting room is too small any many people were standing whilst waiting. The children's ward was full so we had to return the next day for an operation - however we didn't mind this as it meant we got to spend the night at home. Ward 24 seemed a little dated compared with the brightness of children's A&e. The staff were pleasant however they didn't seem to spend as much time with the children as perhaps they could. Thank you once again to children's A&e! You deserve an award for the outstanding care the team provided that night!
