I was in hospital for one year, I had several surgeries and 2 aneurysms in this time. When I got out of hospital I first went to Douglas Grant. The occupational therapists also visited me at home, we cooked together and they assessed if I was safe in the kitchen. An OT also used to come by weekly to go out for a walk with me. He tried to find out things I like to do and bought me calligraphy pens but I don't have the motivation to use them yet. I keep saying I'll do things when I feel better but it's taking longer than I would like.
After a while it was suggested that Dirrans centre would be better for me. Dirrans is great, the people are lovely and it's helping me get back into society. Everyone here has had the same problem so we are all going through the same things. Everyone likes singing and I love singing, and telling jokes. They even arrange the transport to get me here.
It's great there is a place like Dirrans to come to.
