"Most unprofessional hospital ive ever been in"

About: Northern General Hospital

I was sent for a surgical assessment following a back injury to the huntsman building, I was in absolute agony as my back had gone into spasm, The doc said he would arrange some pain relief imediately, 3 hours later it never came, I was assed and told i needed a scan, agin no pain relief, another 3 hours i was sent for a scan, After i begged for some pain relieg, and i was given two paracetamol, The doctor came and said oh its nothing its just a back spasm, I said that was my diagnosis 7 yrs ago and following the next day i was admmited for emergency surgery, They just shrugged their shoulders and said I will prescribe you some pain relief, I asked how long it would take as i had been their 7 hours, was told it will take approximately 3 hours as "were busy". I said forget it, and got my brother to take me home. biggest excuse i have seen for a hospital in yorkshire, The doctors appear to be unquallified and very unorganized, Ive made a complaint to my docs and stated they must never ever send me to that place again

I am very sorry to hear of your poor experience at the Surgical Assessment Centre. Clearly, this is not the experience we would wish for our patients and is not representative of our normal standards and wish to offer our sincere apologies for this.

I note that you have made a complaint to your doctor however, the Trust can take formal complaints and investigate matters directly from you or an advocate. If you wish to provide personal details we can look into your concerns. You can do this by contacting our Patient Services Team (PST) by telephoning 0114 271 2400 or emailing pst@sth.nhs.uk.
