"Staff were very helpful and cheery. ..."

About: Royal Orthopaedic Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Staff were very helpful and cheery. The ward was very clean. My treament was explained in full in easy to understand language.

I was treated as an individual rather than just one of many patients having surgery that day. I was made to feel at easy throughtout my stay which made the whole day anxiety free.

I was given clear instructions what do do on my discharge and what to do if I had any problems. I also was given my OP appointment and an appointment was made for me to have my stitches out at my GP surgery. I was left with nothing to worry about.

What could be improved

I waited outside of the ward with about 20 or so other patients/relatives as the ward did not open until 7.30.When I entered the ward I followed I was at the back of the line of people entering the ward. Not one of them used the hand spray although there were two spray bottles available. Perhaps some clearer "instructions" could be seen to prompt people to do this?

Anything else?

I woud reccomend the ROH for cleanines and excellant care.

If the Trust is trying to increase Membership they miss the opportunity of giving Membership information in the excellant Patients Information folder which are provided in each of the bed stations.
