"Nurse showed compassion, patience and humour"

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

Suffering from severe neck pain and with the meds for my GP having no effect my husband took me to Blackburn A&E. They were very busy and as soon as I was seen by the triage nurse she recognised my pain and made it her immediate priority. She was thorough and very caring. The doctor was very caring and again did his best to reIieve my pain and brought a consultant to see me.

I was xrayed and taken to the MAU where the staff were the best I've come across. I was seen by several doctors and was told quickly the results of my xray. The communication between all departments and members of staff was excellent. The staff nurse Ian Sturdy couldn't be more suited to his job. He showed compassion, patience, and humour. He made time to listen and talk to the patients in distress and nothing was too much trouble. What a wonderful Ward.

Many thanks for your feedback on your experience of our Emergency Department and Medical Assessment Unit and thank-you for taking the time to do so. I have passed your feedback on to the teams, they will be really pleased to hear that your recent experience was positive in lots of ways as they always strive to deliver safe, personal & effective care. If you would like to talk through your visit to us with one of our Patient Experience team so we can understand the bits of your experience that made this such a positive visit for you we would really value this so that we can try to improve things for every patient visiting our hospitals. You can either contact me (Meg Davey) on 01254 733698 or email me on margaret.davey@elht.nhs.uk.
