"Well organised at Bassetlaw Hospital eye clinic"

Attended as a new patient in July 2015.

Had to undergo several different tests and have different eye drops put in before seeing the consultant. This involved moving between the waiting area and side rooms several times to see various health care assistants, a nurse and a photographer. Many other patients were going through a similar process.

The organisation of this for all the patients was fascinating to watch - congratulations to whoever was leading the team that afternoon, it was very busy.

Staff were professional, explained what they were about to do and were good humoured throughout.

One tiny criticism - most, but not all, staff introduced themselves by name (inc the consultant).

Overall an excellent experience.

Thank you for your kind feedback which I will pass on to the staff in the eye clinic.

When you say the staff introduced themselves by name would you prefer they said their name and title, would that be more beneficial? Let me know what you think and I can discuss with the staff.

I was really picking up on the campaign by Kate Granger: #hellomynameis. http://hellomynameis.org.uk/

My preference would be 'Hello, my name is Jane Smith, I am a health care assistant and I'm going to check your details and take you through some basic eye tests / put some drops in / take photos of your eyes'. And that is basically what most of the staff said, though not all explained what they were going to do.

The fact that most of the staff did introduce themselves made me feel respected as an individual (it could have felt very process-y given the number of interventions required) and a partner in the assessment. As I recall, it was the Dr who didn't introduce himself (my statement isn't as clear as it should have been) and one of the health care assistants. But the Dr was very courteous and answered my questions so I have no real criticism.

Again, they did well in a very busy clinic and should be congratulated.
