"Rheumatology Department is Letting Basildon..."

About: Basildon University Hospital

I have had several procedures over the last 5 years in Basildon Hospital, most in the Day Surgery Unit, which is excellent and I could not fault it in anyway. I also had a hip replacement in June 2014 and again received excellent care in every form, consultant, nurses, HCA's, catering and cleaners. My doctor referred me to Rheumatology and I saw a 'locum doctor' in May, who was very difficult to understand, stared at their computer screen, showed no interest, just handed me blood test forms and told me they would see me in 4-6 months. I received an appointment for January through the post which was 8 months!!! This was changed when I rang up to early October and confirmed via letter, I then received another letter cancelling the appointment, again I rang up and got a later October appointment. I have now received another letter cancelling this until December!!! As my first rheumatology appointment instilled little confidence or explanation, I do not want to have to wait 6 months before I return. The reason for the low score is purely down to rheumatology and the consultant I saw. Basildon Hospital you have been excellent please do not let one department let you down, as they cannot get their 'house' in order. I believe I am not alone in my opinion of this department, as others have the same story.!!!!
