"Consistantly good"

About: Princess of Wales Hospital

I have been to this surgery a few times over the past ten or so years and every time it has been clean, friendly, quick and I have always received good advice (fortunately I've never had anything too serious though). Please bear in mind this is a minor injuries service though and not A&E. I believe it is run by nurses rather than doctors, so for obvious reasons they should not be treating things which could turn out to be more serious such as serious head injuries or potentially serious injuries to young children who cant explain fully how they feel - this is where the common sense comes in!

Dear Dan Many thanks for taking the time to give feedback regarding our Minor Injury Unit (MiU) based at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Ely. We value all feedback both good and bad as it helps us to better understand what our patients think about the care they receive. MiU's provided by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust are staffed by highly qualified Nurse Practitioners and administrators and are able to give care and advice covering a number of conditions: - wounds - cuts and bruises (tetanus immunisation can also be given, bites - human, insect and animal, minor burns and scalds, muscle and joint injuries - strains and sprains, limb fractures, sports injuries, emergency contraception, eye problems, earache (patients over 2 years old),cystitis (not children or male patients),minor head injuries (with no loss of consciousness). There are also certain conditions, services and advice that we are unable to give: repeat prescriptions, care for dental problems, treatment for long standing conditions, travel vaccinations, medicals and sick certificates. All of this information is freely available on the NHS Choices website and we would be very happy to further discuss the services and care we provide for our local community. Please telephone or e-mail our PALS and Patient Experience team if you need any further information or advice regarding MiU's in Cambridgeshire: E-mail: cpftpals@nhs.net Free phone: 0800 013 2511 option 2 01480 398 542 or 0790 817 4397. Kind regards Michele Hutton Services Manager for MIU Ely and the FEN's
