What I liked
I brought a drugs overdose patient into A&E and sat with her all day. The doctors and nurses were fabulous and I was kept totally informed of what was going on in A&E and later in the MAU. Handovers between shifts were very smooth. A first-class service with a positive outcome.
What could be improved
Parking! It was the last thing on my mind and it seems rediculous to take advantage of stressed patients/visitors/carers in this way. The hospital should have a lot more more parking space and it should be free. Given that this is a relatively new hospital in an out-of-town location I'm amazed the requirements for this were so badly wrong. Perhaps this is the downside of PFI, but I cannot express how strongly I feel about this. I've been visiting since and sometimes I've spent 30 minutes just queueing to get in let alone trying to find a free space in full car parks.
