"Dreadful care"

About: Doncaster Royal Infirmary

Attended A/E in severe pain, nursing staff in triage and assessment room were very helpful and cheerful, seen by Doctor and advised would need to speak to surgical team and then left without update had to wait for 4 hours and ask myself. Then told to go up to the Surgical assessment unit where I sat a further 6 and a half hours (ten and a half in total) without fluids or pain relief. Medical staff in SAU were very curt and dismissive and used patronising terms when addressing one (dont go judging books by covers please some of us are educated) and given no real information but told to go back to the GP to be referred to another service. This practice not only appears to "meet the 4 hour wait" so no breaches in A/E but is a second class service in all ways, SAU were not that busy, no updates were given as to any delays just left in the waiting area and once again, after 5.5 hours of sitting there with no one asking if one was ok, had to ask what was happening (by this time had been in DRI 9.5 hours) and ask for pain relief again! still none forthcoming! very 3rd world experience.
