I received a request to attend Barnsley Hospital in July for a bladder check by Mr. Smith consultant surgeon following 3 years history of cancer. Mr Smith whom I must thank for his care and consideration has performed this Op. on me 3 or 4 times since diagnosis, with no pain, problems, or discomfort. A wonderful example of 1st class hospital care.
However on attendance this time Mr Smith was not available and another consultant was to do the op. The Staff in the theater were wonderful and very caring, but the consultant was not. After inserting a local aneasthetic he did not wait the recommended time for it to work and immediately inserted the camera.
I have never experienced in my 70 plus years so much pain, 3 Nurses held my hands and forehead to help me. Three days it took for the pain to ease and in this time I found it very hard to sleep. The Theater staff deserve a medal, the consultant does not.
"Very painful recent bladder camera inspection"
