"Cancelled appointment"

About: Milton Keynes Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

I have been investigated for problems with my prostate through Milton Keynes General Hospital, and am being checked in case prostate cancer is the cause. At my last out patient appointment in early June I was asked to have another MRI scan before more biopsies were taken. I was given the MRI and asked to come back today. On arriving I couldn't get the automated check in to book me in and on reporting to the desk discovered my appointment, and the whole clinic had been cancelled. The receptionist understood my surprise and frustration; my wife had taken the morning off work to come with me. I was given the number of the booking clerk and advised to ring them as no future appointment had been made.

I called the booking clerk and was told they had left one message though making subsequent calls they got a message saying our voicemail was full. Our phone line givens no sign of having any messages left. The date given for calling was one I was around for; the letter that was said to have been dispatched has not yet been delivered some 6 days later. I was told the surgeon needed to be elsewhere today and they are trying to sort out an extra clinic; I have been given a time to see him for a Saturday. By the time this was sorted we missed the 15 min free parking the machine allowed, and paid £2. 50 for a cancelled appointment. I am disappointed and left wondering how others like me who are anxiously awaiting results are feeling.
