"Awful"

About: West Suffolk Hospital

Having visited this hospital twice I never want to go again! The first time I was taken in by ambulance mid morning, I was then left on a bed in a ward for over four hours before anybody came to see me let alone give me any pain relief. The only reason anybody came to attend to me then was because a man in the opposite bed could see I was distressed and had seen nobody had been to me since arriving and went and got help. When I eventually saw a doctor they were rude and wouldn't listen to what I was saying- I could have saved them a lot of time and effort! They told me from 8pm that I would be able to go go home soon but it was actually nearly 2am by the time I actually could leave. I had the unfortunate experience of going to the a&e department a couple of days ago. The triage nurse was great, I was seen within half and hour of arriving. I was told I would be sorted with pain relief and then seen by a doctor. I was then waited 4 miserable hours to get any pain relief. When I was seen by a doctor they were rude, unhelpful, didn't listen and kept just repeating the same thing to me over and over again! They didn't seem to care at all. Their attitude was appalling. I was then told I'd be going to X-Ray......oh another ridiculously long wait but not because there was actually a wait.....they'd not put my form in the pile and had forgotten I was there! In fact they didn't know where my form had gone( it was sat on the table next to me!) The nurse who helped me onto the bed was amazing. Perhaps some of the others should take a leaf out of their book! When I finally made xray the nurse/radiologist who dealt with me was rude and short-tempered and did nothing other than moan and whinge and have a strop about doing my xray- they should have been told hours ago apparently...... take that up with whoever it concerns- don't take it out on the patient and proceed to rant. After leaving xray I was again spoken to by the doctor who spoke to me like a child and wouldn't listen to the questions I asked, but just kept repeating the same thing over and over again! I am not stupid! I ended up leaving in more pain than I was in when I arrived and unable to stand or walk.... The doctor's advice don't stand in the same place for too long....I can't stand! I appreciate they are busy but I have now spent a weekend at home unable to move, in more pain and I live on my own. Getting to the bathroom is like completing a marathon on all fours. I have lost feeling in my legs a few times and ended up screaming in pain. Have been advised by out of hours to call an ambulance.....what's the point?! Other than a couple of nurses I would never want to see any of the others again. Everybody gets stressed but don't take it out on the patients. I have never written a negative review in my life but don't want anybody else to go through what I did.
