"Outstanding care"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske)

After so may negative news reports I was apprehensive to be sent to ambulatory admissions by my GP on a Friday afternoon. I was seen within minutes of arriving, given a full assessment and quickly diagnosed and treated for sepsis before being transferred to MAU for further treatment and investigation. The department was short staffed due to sickness but the nurse practitioner was friendly and caring as well as their prompt with all care. On MAU I was seen by several doctors from different specialities, all kind and professional and explaining what was happening before being transferred to the renal ward for two days. Again shifts were short staffed but all staff were (with the exception of the RN on my first night) were professional, caring and humane especially the bank RN who was so kind and helpful as well as being a very skilled nurse, also the nursing assistant. Housekeeping staff serving the meals and cleaning were also lovely as were the porters and the food was great. This was my first experience as an inpatient although I was a registered nurse for many years. My only criticism is you need more staff on shifts. If it wasn't for the dedication of the nursing staff it would fall apart and short staffing meant waiting for pain and sickness relief on most occasions it was required.

Thank you so much for taking the time to give your feedback on your recent hospital stay. Our teams are busy and do work hard to provide high standards of care. They will be delighted to read your comments.
