Today I attended the breast clinic in the William Rous Centre my appt time was 08.50hrs and I left at 12.15hrs. During this time I saw a most pleasant Dr twice, once for an initial consultation and once for a review of tests and advice for future care. I saw a lovely radiographer who was again, pleasant and reassuring for a mammogram. I saw a welcoming radiologist for an ultrasound scan and helping me through this visit was a very happy and cheerful HCA in radiography. To have access to these people, their respective skills and the tests they carry out all in three and a half hours is admirable. In this day and age when people seem to gain pleasure from moaning about the NHS and also have very high and utterly unrealistic expectations units like this are a beacon of the NHS at its best. Unfortunately my one only complaint would be the receptionist who was unfriendly and officious to the point of rudeness. Considering the issues people are attending with someone who shows a little more empathy and who can manage a smile would go a long way. Well done.
