"administrative failings"

About: Lister Hospital

I checked in for two apps on 17.7.15 in response to two letters defining an ECG at 11.00 to be followed by an Echocardiogram at 11.30. At 11.15 I enquired of reception was there a problem and after the involvement of five or more personnel it transpired that ECGs normally are done just prior to seeing the consultant. Why was I sent the letter for the 11.00 a.m appointment? This created a problem as I had to rearrange my 88year old husband's carer slot and leave him alone for longer than necessary. He has had a stroke and is demented so to have made a great effort to arrange cover for this non-existent and unnecessary appointment is not good.

We're really sorry that this happened - please accept our apologies. We will also arrange for your comments to be passed to the cardiology team so that they can follow up with you what happened and why - as well as offer their own apology. We do hope that the outcome of these tests is good news for you all the same.
