I was asked to attend ward 32 for a day case Angiogram/Stent this I did on 7/7/15 at 8.00am told to change into a gown and pants. A short time later a Doctor came to have a chat to me and tell me what would be happening and he would see me shortly (I as 2nd on the list) I waited all morning and no one came for me. At 1.00pm the afternoon patients started to arrived, I asked why I was still waiting, the nurse went to enquire and later came with a wheelchair at 2.00pm and took me down to the Catherisation Dept. I was then taken into an operating theatre where the consultant started to perform the Angiogram on my right arm when all of a sudden there was a terrific pain in the middle of my lower right arm, various drugs were administered into the cannula in my left hand and they carried on with the angiogram, I was still in a lot of pain they then finished taking the wires out by which time my arm was like a balloon a kind of tourniquet was put on my arm to stop any bleeding, I was then transferred to recovery where they put a cuff on my swollen arm to release the pressure. The staff were very good trying to make me comfortable I was there about and hour . The pain in my arm has been unbearable and deep purple from my wrist and way up beyond my elbow, I feel let down as I have had a Stent before 7 years ago in my groin and did not have this problem except for bleeding. I have been to see my GP who was shocked by what was on my arm I expected some bruising but not to this extent, I am unable to wear short sleeves as it is too embarrassing. Glenfield Hospital is my favourite hospital but after this I am not so sure. Basically I was a forgotten patient. My husband and I were there 12 hours.
