"Accident & Emergency Visit 15/7/15"

About: Whiston Hospital

I was referred to A&E at Whiston Hospital today by my GP as I was experiencing shortness of breath and a rapid pulse. I was triaged almost immediately by an extremely well informed nurse, moved straight to ECG and then on to resus where I could be properly monitored. The nurse on duty made me comfortable and I was then seen by a Doctor straight away. The staff on duty consulted with cardiology and within a very short time a decision was made about my treatment. Within half an hour an anaesthetist team were with me, along with A&E doctors and nurses preparing me for a cardioversion procedure which took place on the A&E department with the minimum of fuss. I was extremely anxious and was put at ease by every single member of that team. The procedure was completed and even when I woke from the anaesthetic being a complete nuisance, the staff were patient and understanding. I was monitored and then let home once I was feeling Ok. The whole process took less than 4 hours from arrival In reception to going home and every member of staff I came across was just fabulous. Thank you Whiston A&E.
