Went in to A&E due to bleeding and stomach cramps at 10 weeks pregnant. Waited 4 hours to see a gynaecologist. Eventually when I got to see someone they kept telling me everything was fine but "I'm not an expert". Obviously everything was not fine because I miscarried a short while later. The toilet was absolutely disgusting. It was not by choice I used the toilet, I was asked to provide a urine sample so had to go in to this cramped little smelly dirty room. I spent approx 10 minutes cleaning and wiping everything down before I was able to make use of this room - I wish I had a bottle of bleach with me (before you say it I don't have OCD). This is unacceptable. I understand A&E is a very busy department, but in a hospital cleanliness and hygiene should be a priority in every department at all times. I had to go to the early pregnancy assessment unit the following day. It was a breath of fresh air. Cleanliness at it's best. Cannot be faulted. It was such a relief when I entered the Tuke Building.
"Horrible experience"
