"why not to visit this hospital"

About: Russells Hall Hospital

After visiting the hospital on three consecutive days before being admitted I can only warn people of the lack of care offered at this hospital. On the first day ( Saturday 11th July) I was directed into the walk in clinic and prescribed laxatives for what was an obviously painful stomach and sent home. By 5am on Sunday morning I was in so much pain I was taken back to the hospital where I was pumped full of morphine for the pain, x-rayed and sent home in a groggy condition dues to the drugs with no other help offered. By the next morning I was in even more pain and was taken to my local GP who immediately called an ambulance to return me to hospital. On admission I was once more given morphine and moved to a urology ward where during the two days I endured there I was graced with a less than two minutes passing of a doctor and an even less time spent on an utrasound test that was never acted upon while I was there. To add insult to injury I was not allowed to rest in the middle of the night as the staff showed no care in the noise they made and how they shocked you awake even though you were not being attended to. I walked out of the ward at 2.30 am and arranged to be picked up at 5am after discharging myself from a nursing official that obviously only made choices only to suit themselves. I have now made arrangements to consult a specialist elsewhere and will never return to this place.

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback about your experience of our hospital. We always aim to offer the highest standards of care and so are very sorry that we fell short of those standards during your visit to our hospital. You have raised some concerns that we would like the opportunity to look into these points in more detail and hopefully resolve some of these issues for you. It is difficult to comment on your specific case without your own details and reviewing your medical notes, but if you wished to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on free phone 0800 073 0510 we would happily look into the issues you have raised. Dudley Urgent Care Centre, although located within Russells Hall Hospital, is provided by a company called Malling Health. We have passed your feedback onto them. However, if you would like to get in touch with them directly, please contact Shamim Akhtar on 0121 612 3575 or email shamimakhtar@nhs.net.
