"Nothing went well for Father once he reached..."

About: Epsom Hospital

Father entered Epsom hospital through A&E from his nursing home as they were concerned that he might have a UTI and Chest Infection, dignosed as community acquired Pneumonia. Moved onto AMU , 6 days later after IV antibiotics and a unit of blood he was well enough to be hopefully discharged by end of that week ,after a few tests to done -AMU Doctor confident. All goes wrong, sent up to Alexandra ward, why ? CT arranged? isn't done for 6 days, they take my fathers long term catheter out for no reason and leave him in urine retention screaming for hours without being re catheterized or given pain relief. He is dehydrated and put on IV fluids but they twice ,two days running, fail to see that there is no flow from the giving set due to occlusion ; in later case running 5 hours late with still 30% of bag full. Father put on thickened water due to poor swallow reflex but water by his bed NOT thickened. Father discharged with 4 pressure sores, MRSA, C DIFF,Sepsis, confusion all caught in Epsom Hospital, on paperwork that was in the majority 6 days out of date, along with an incorrect out of date DO NOT ATTEMPT CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION form which was written out a month before we found it in his discharge notes , which we as a family had no Knowledge of. Father Died 20 days later in his nursing home from chronic Infectious gastroenteritis from the C DIFF. We continually pointed out errors in nursing practice and paperwork, and poor medical notes, had several meetings after speaking to PALS office but quite honestly never once had any contact with any senior staff feeling that anything we said or pointed out, or errors corrected was not noted or addressed. A Thoroughly exasperating experience. 6 complaints lodged with the Hospital
