"Outstanding Hospital"

About: Hexham General Hospital

Our Dad was treated in ward 4 of the hospital and I can honestly say we were all comforted that this was where he eventually passed away peacefully on 12th July After experiencing two hospitals in Newcastle we could not have wished for a better place than Hexham general. We asked many times during the ten weeks previous to him being transferred that he could go to Hexham and the difference in the standard of care was, in our eyes, immense He was treated with the utmost of care and dignity as were we as a family. The consultant treating Dad was so kind and caring towards him as were all the nurses and indeed all members of staff. There seems to be a personal touch at Hexham which is sadly lacking at other hospitals. Whoever is in charge should be very proud of the workforce at the hospital, nothing was to much for them. I really cannot put into words how grateful we are.

Dear Ms Jones First of all let me say how sorry I am to hear about the loss of your Dad. It is so thoughtful of you to take the time to get in touch at what must be such a difficult time for you and your family. It means a great deal to us when we read comments like yours. Our staff work very hard to provide the best care possible, and as you say the dignity of patients is so important, and it is something we place a great deal of emphasis on. I am so pleased that your Dad received the care that he needed, and that your family felt looked after too. The staff on ward 4 will be grateful to read your kind words, I will make sure they are passed on to them. Thank you once again for getting in touch. With warmest regards, Annie Laverty, director of patient experience
