"Diagnosis of Gall Bladder Infection"

About: Heartlands Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

My wife and myself and two friends were tacking the Warwickshire Ring on our canal boat, when I experienced pain in my chest and abdomen. I was taken into Heartlands Hospital, diagnosed and treated.

We live on the Wirral, so I had no idea of what to expect. However, I cannot speak too highly of the treatment I received, or the cheerful attitude of all the members of staff I had contact with, and I would like to express my thanks to the doctors, nurses and other members of staff.

I was discharged after two days and we were able to continue our canal cruise.

Dear Greenman1

Thank you so much for your feedback regarding your recent patient experience at Heartlands Hospital under the General Surgery Team.

I am sure being admitted to hospital whilst on holiday in an unfamiliar area must have been quite alarming for you and your family, and I am pleased to learn that you found the treatment and care you received to of a high standard, and that the staff were cheerful and caring.

I will ensure that your feedback is communicated to Sally Lomas Matron for General Surgery, and to Mr Charles Hendrickse, Clinical Director for General Surgery, who will communicate your positive feedback to all of the surgical team.

I hope this is acceptable, and once again, thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback and I hope you enjoyed the rest of your holiday canal cruise!

Yours sincerely

Marie Helebert

Update posted by greenman1 (the patient)

It was a bit traumatic to be admitted to hospital, but I would gladly reiterate all the positive comments I made in my previous message. I have now got appointment for an MRI scan and one for keyhole surgery.

Once again, many thanks to those people at every level who treated me so well in Solihull.
