"Nurse was a real help to me"

About: Locala Community Partnerships CIC / Kirklees Sexual Health West Yorkshire

(as the patient),

I had a contraceptive implant fitted incorrectly at my GPs. My GP's surgery was very unhelpful when I was trying to arrange for the implant to be removed and replaced.

The person who fitted it only worked on a Monday morning which wasn't any good to me, despite it being a very large surgery they were adamant that nobody else could help resolve the situation.

This is where the Princess Royal came in. I went to a drop in session. The nurse assessed the situation and said immediately that my implant was so badly fitted she couldn't let me leave like it. She straight away removed and replaced the implant.

She wasn't supposed to carry out a procedure during a drop in session as it holds the queue up but she used her common sense and realised I couldn't be expected to carry on with the implant poking out of my arm. She was patient, caring, sympathetic and most of all a real help to me.
