"Mobile MRI Scan 2 July 2015"

About: Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital

The member of staff had very little patience with me during what is a very stressful procedure. I appreciate they had to ask some of the questions I responded to in the written questionnaire but there was no need for aggression and undermining my intelligence when I queried the reason. They checked my pockets with me and we agreed there was no metal found. However somehow a 5 pence coin was caught in my pocket which neither of us found. I appreciate everyone can have an off day but there was no need for the aggression shown towards me. After the procedure was completed they were unwilling to help me to get up from the lying down position (I am being investigated for torn ligaments and muscles which makes this extremely difficult). Eventually they got help from colleagues but not until after they shouted aggressively. I want to add my husband has recently undergone two major operations so I was in a vulnerable state to begin with. I do not want anyone else facing this.

I am so sorry to learn that a member of staff what not as caring and compassionate as we would have wished, particularly as you were having a very stressful procedure - and given that you were feeling particularly vulnerable. Please will you contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 01227 8643145 or 01227 783145 (there may be answer phones, but please leave a message) or email us at ekh-tr.PALS@nhs.net if you would like us to follow up this encounter with the member of staff concerned.

Dear Nahid Stagg,

I am so sorry to hear about your experience, this sounds very distressing as is not the standard of care we expect from our staff. I will certianly make sure the team receive your feedback and indeed act on it. Thank you for taking the trouble to write in.

Apologies again,

Sally
