"Awful hospital - avoid at all costs"

About: Pilgrim Hospital

Our daughter was brought here in an ambulance following a fall at home. Despite the fact that she could not walk, she was almost immediately discharged. Two days later, upon returning from a foreign business trip I could immediately see that she was in agony. I took her to our GP who sent us back to the Pilgrims Hospital where she was admitted late on a Friday night. My daughter stayed in this terrible place for the next 5 days. On one occasion, she was not fed because she was 'forgotten'. She was under the care of two sets of clinicians with no one seemingly in overall control. The hospital was so short of doctors that everytime there was an A&E emergency, there was no cover elsewhere. The nurses were lovely in empathy but over-stretched and thus ineffective. We were told on alternate days that our daughter could be discharged, then that she couldn't. Since discharge, she was booked on two outpatient appointments at the same time in different hospitals. Weeks later, she still has not seen an orthopaedic specialist to follow up from her hospital time. If you are child in this part of Lincolnshire it seems that you are out of luck - which I mean as a damning judgement on Boston Pilgrims Hospital. As parents, we have been left incredibly upset and disappointed at how our child has been treated. We will never use this hospital again as it has failed us.
