"Appendicitis diagnosis and treatment"

About: University Hospital Aintree

I went to A&E with what I thought was very bad chest pains. The staff there were very quick to get me seen although the waiting room was full of people. They treated me accordingly to my systems and send me back out to the waiting room. I was in agony! It was not until a passing doctor asked why I was sitting there until I was sent through into Majors. I may have been my description of the pain that led them to believe there was not much wrong but maybe they could have looked outside the box due to my increasing pain and then I may have not been put back into the waiting room. I had not seen any doctor by this point. Once into Majors the care and attention was amazing. Pain relief and tests were swift. When a doctor came and was called away on a trauma call, they swiftly put another doctor onto my care. I was transferred up to the surgical assessment bay which seemed quite full and the pain relief was wearing off, but with another trauma call taking the only doctor away. It seemed as though I was going to be in for a rough ride but no! That same doctor made sure quickly before they left that they had written up scripts for our pain relief. I was transferred onto the ward 1 and monitored and looked after amazingly through the night. The next day they decided it was most likely to be my appendix and put me onto their emergency list. The anaesthetics team were were very down to earth, happy and reassuring. The surgical team must had been very good. As my appendix was removed without any complications. I did meet the surgeon and they were very relaxed and happy, which put me at great ease. I woke to a smiling face looking after me in recovery. There was no rush, no drama just a feel of take you time you are fine. Back on Ward 1 the care I had to get me well for home was exceptional. All staff from Consultants to domestics were kind, relaxing and all seemed happy in their work to make you better. I do believe Ward 1 has had some bad press in the past and I am sure it us not always easy to please everyone. Or get things right all the time. In the end we are all human! I myself will never be nervous about going into hospital again. After the amazing care and treatment I have received. To all staff at Aintree University Hospital; You are astonishing, talented people and I thank you from the bottom if my heart for looking after me and making me better. Xxxx
