I was admitted via A+E, all protocols observed within timely fashion in respect of me being a chemo patient. Transferred to Cdu- cm1 where I received excellent care and support. My objective was to get home to be palliated with family and friends. I recognise that at some stage I became disruptive as my brain was over running and I was terrified I may not get home- to this end my family sought to have me transferred to a side room to afford me more comfort and staff assiduously made this happen, safe in the knowledge that I would be discharged the following day. Unfortunately the following morning I found that the associate practitioner that was assigned to me lacked any real compassion and at one point after disconnecting me from cardiac electrode monitoring uttered the words" I don't know why we have bothered with this" -help with showering. I felt was piecemeal and very much task orientated rather than holistically based. Palliative care team excellent and Julie Jones singled out for exceptional care. Securing discharge was a lengthier process than I had anticipated, that aside the 2 young nurses that set up my syringe driver were more than friendly and pleasant in their demeanour.
