I recently underwent a Robotic Laproscopic Prostatectomy at the hospital as a referred patient from Worthing Hospital The purpose of my e-mail is to thank all the team at Eastbourne for the excellent care that I have received during my time there and to highlight what I believe is some excellent work and care by all those concerned in my treatment. It began before I was actually admitted to the hospital with the admissions officer who displayed patience and courtesy and took time to speak to me on the telephone and understand my particular needs in relation to dates to avoid for the operation owing to other family commitments. On the day of my admission having come from Worthing my wife and two daughters wished to accompany and stay me up until I went into theater and I would like to thank the admissions team who facilitated this particularly as my operation was not until 2.30pm, it certainly took my mind off worrying. My pre operation anesthesia was expertly handled with kindness and humor again leading me to feel at ease and to believe that I was in the care of true professionals. I was visited prior to my operation by the surgeon who explained everything in a language I could understand and again offering reassurance I would like to thank the surgical team as I sit recuperating here the ease with which I am regaining my health is a true testament to their skills. After my operation I was looked after in the post operative suite before being transferred to Seaford 4 ward during the early hours of Friday morning and here again I could not fault my treatment and wish to thank the two nurses for whom nothing was too much trouble and who even managed to find a substantial meal for a now very hungry and thirsty patient at 1130pm at night. My stay on the ward was made so much more pleasant by the can do attitude of all the nurses and staff who I observed working very hard to provide an excellent standard of care under sometimes difficult circumstances. The standard of food during my stay was also excellent and the staff providing it were both cheery and happy to try and cater as much as possible to suit everyone wishes. In today's world where it is sometimes easier to criticise than to compliment I thought that I would take the time to try and redress the balance and highlight what I felt was some excellent work.
