"Mixed review, don't show violent films in waiting..."

About: Manor Hospital

My 4 year old daughter was having breathing difficulties on Friday night at 8pm, I called 111 who sent out a fantastic pair of paramedics, her sats were low and she was working hard, after a neb she made a little improvement but the crew took us to A&E at the Manor. My child was not examined in A&E, more sort of glanced at in a corridor, it was decided we should go to the out of hours Drs/badger clinic, I forget what it's called, as the wait was apparently less. We were seen by a nurse and then waited a long, hot uncomfortable 4 hours to see a Dr, while here there was a violent movie on the TV, very very loud, I was going to ask to have the chanel changed but was worried it might cause problems as a lot of people where watching it, my daughter is now having nightmares about bone crunching and being kicked in the face, we sat under the tv then so they couldn't see it, but had to move as we couldn't hear the names being called. . It was busy, I'm a nurse and fully understand this, but my daughter was having trouble with her breathing and I thought this might need a more rapid review, it looked like the Dr was going to fob us off until they actually examined my child and could see just how much she was struggling and how awful she sounded, she was shortly admitted PAU where she finally got some treatment, I was amazed to see we were the only patient and thought it was a pity we weren't there hours ago, by 2 am my 4 year old finally had a comfy bed and my 7 year old daughter could go home with my husband. All this said the care on PAU was fantastic, the staff were lovely with my little girl which made her so much more accepting of treatment! By morning she was much better, the Drs and nurses took a lot of time overnight, giving inhalers, monitoring my child, the ward was spotless, lovely play area and the tea and toast was very much appreciated thank you! Brilliant team

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to post a comment. We're glad to read that the care received when in our PAU department was fantastic and that the staff helped to make your daughters stay more comfortable. Please be assured that your comments have been passed on to our A&E department and that we are also investigating the governance surrounding the television in the waiting room, with the organisation that run the out of hours Badger clinic. If you would like to speak to somebody further regarding this, please contact our Patient Relations Team on 01922 656463.
