"Minor Injuries Unit"

I used the Minor Injuries Unit today when I needed treatment for a septic finger. My daughter Katrina used it once last year for a fractured collar bone while she was home from University. We both have the highest regard for the hospital MIU, its staff and its services. We had no hassle with waiting: both seen straight away even though I did not have an appointment. The staff were excellent and couldn't have been more pleasant, helpful and professional. The building was spotlessly clean, warm and inviting. Katrina had her shoulder x-rayed (again with no waiting - but she did have to postpone her visit from a Sunday to a Monday to use this service). The advice and treatment she was given was first class and she was quickly on the mend. She did not need a follow-up visit . I was treated by a nurse, today, who very efficiently treated my finger and clearly explained everything that I had to do to keep it clean, replace the dressing, and also gave advice on the use of the course of antibiotics I have to take. Their pleasant conversation helped to take my mind off the throbbing of my finger! Thank you. There is no doubt I'll be using the MIU at Malvern Community Hospital again - if such an injury warrants it - and there is no practical alternative in Worcester, where I live. I see the MIU in Malvern as a model of how such an establishment should be run.
