"Lack of sign inside building to phlebotomy dept."

About: Altrincham General Hospital

My experience as far as the blood test are concerned was excellent. I went just after lunch on Friday and was in and out in 20 minutes. As far as the complaints about parking is concerned there was no specific hospital parking at the old hospital. Altrincham has very good public transport and the bus and tram interchange is only a few minutes walk away. There are also car parks just across the road and behind the hospital, neither of them more than a few minutes walk away. I appreciate that some people have mobility problems but assume that was the case at the old hospital I appreciate that some doctors recommend fasting before certain blood tests are taken which means a large number of people prefer to go for tests as early as possible which is why there are long waits in the mornings. It was a pleasure to go into a nice new building instead of down a dark alley at the back of the old hospital.

Thank you for your comments posted on the NHS Choices / Patient Opinion website regarding your visit to the Phlebotomy Department at Altrincham Hospital. It was very kind of you to write and share positive feedback which reflects the hard work and dedication of our staff.

We note that you have commented on the lack of signs within the building and can confirm that signage for the new hospital has been completely reviewed. We have involved patients and staff in this review and are pleased to report that new signs are on order.

Some patients have experienced problems accessing the available disabled parking however, I can confirm that Altrincham General Hospital has 6 dedicated disabled parking bays which are for blue badge holders only. Patients who require a disabled parking space should telephone the Outpatient Reception on 0161 413 7701 in order to pre-book and reserve a parking space for their appointment.

We thank you for your observations on the new hospital and hope that you continue to appreciate the facilities offered
