I have read all the excellent reviews of the Gynaecology department at Musgrove Park Hospital on NHS choices and want to add yet another few words of thanks. Having been fast tracked to Gynae’ oncology earlier in the year I can honestly say that everyone I came into contact with has treated me with care, kindness and respect. The consultant spent time carefully and thoroughly dealing with my problem. They explained everything, told me what to expect, possible outcomes and answered my questions so that I could give valid/informed consent to what was necessary. I recovered fully and easily from the surgery and the team work and follow up have been second to none. There is also a contact number if there are any concerns at any time. The nursing staff on SAL and Hestercombe ward (a very comfortable ward for recovery) were always friendly, good humoured and caring despite their workload. The pain control was, for me, perfect so I can reassure anyone who may need a gynae’ operation that they will be, and feel, well looked after. Some NHS hospitals have been derided as conveyor belts treating patients as outputs or health outcome products making hospitals feel like factories but hopefully this is changing. As one lady said we are lucky to have MPH as our local hospital and if the NHS generally follows your example then we can keep achieving that continuing cycle of improvement to the highest quality of care that is possible. Best wishes to all the staff
