"a Saturday night in a and e"

About: George Eliot Hospital - Acute Services

On sat 4th July myself and my husband ended up in children's a and e with our two year old daughter, and busy it was! Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who quick processed our daughters arrival, the receptionist was very helpful, from there we went into the separate children's waiting room, which had a lovely selection of toys and books to occupy poorly little people, all of which were in a very good clean condition. The waiting room itself was very clean and tidy! Well done housekeeping. Despite the fact that it was a very busy a and e, everyone was triaged within a reasonable time, the nurse who triaged our daughter was fabulous. Extremely good at interacting with her and even explaining to her what was happening. After being triaged we had a brief wait to see the doctor who was just brilliant. They bought my daughter right out of her shell and carefully assessed her. They were so friendly and put my daughter at ease immediately. My daughter then proceeded to take a fancy to the doctors colourful top, they didnt mind at all and just continued to assess her and make everything seem so much fun. The friendly doctor then sent my daughter for an x Ray, we waiting approximately five minutes and in we went, the x Ray was done by two people who were also fabulous with the little one, my daughter was pleased as punch when they offered her a Disney princess sticker at the end of her x ray for being a brave girl. Despite the fact that we had heard doctors and staff had stayed later than they should have to deal with the influx of injured sunny Saturday children, they were all still upbeat and just fab! My daughter can be very shy and nervous around strangers, so thank you for taking such great care of her and interacting so well with her. I am not one for writing reviews but I really felt it was important to say well done to all the staff who were working that busy Saturday night. Keep up the good work.
