I was transferred from prison to Wathwood hospital approx. 6 months ago. When I arrived I was traumatised, tormented and paranoid and spent a lot of time in ICU.
One day when I kicked off the ward manager sat me down and treated me like a human being, she talked to me and brought me round, and she made me feel better. There have been numerous other situations that ward staff dealt with in a similar manner.
It became obvious to me that staff were not out to get me, they are here to help. I have now moved onto another ward and I feel calmer in myself and more settled than at any point in my life. This has only happened because staff are patient and caring.
