Today is Wednesday 7 January 2015 and this will be my first visit all day to the John Eastwood Hospice. I had a young man pick me up in a car to take me and bring me back. On arriving the staff came and told me their names, took my coat and made me feel very welcome. First day I made cookies to bring home and made 2 scarfs, painted elephant and teddy bear money boxes, and could have a cuppa anytime, and took to tthe toilet. The dinner lady came and told us what was for dinner - 3 course meal at £3. 50, it was lovely home made rice pudding, skin on the top, old fashion pudding. Every Wednesday dinner was cooked lovely and different, the kitchen staff and the carers who looked after us all day could do with a gold medal. I have never enjoyed myself anywhere like being at John Eastwood, all of the staff, kitchen staff was marvelous, like being in a posh hotel. I wish I could go every week. I live by myself, my family is always at work, they take me shopping but these past 8 weeks have made my life more jolly and I look forward to going. I am 87, I wish I could go again.
