"Rude staff poor service during labour"

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

I cannot believe that I went into queens hospital when I was in labour and when I went to the labour triage the midwife told me I was 3cm dilated and that they could see the babies hair after stating 'she has dads hair by the way' despite this they still sent me home and said come back when the pains get worse. Whats worse is that I came back later on in the evening with stronger heavier pains and another midwife who clearly did not support teenage pregnancy by the looks given to me when they found out I was 17 told me a wasn't dialated at all and told me that the midwife who told me I was 3 cm was lying. What a way to work together I was sent home for the second time and could not bare the pain i went back home and was about to give birth on my bed and my boyfriend did not know what to do so he called an ambulance who took me to queens and the same rude midwife who said I wasn't dialated told me I was 8 cm. Overall this really made me hate the service and midwives at the maternity unit and to top it off the midwives did not cooperate well enough at my stay in hospital as I was told that my results have come by one midwife and another mid wife told me they haven't come an hour later. Rubbish service rude staff and will defiantly not be going to queens for any pregnancy in the future. I think that if they don't get more rooms in the labour ward they should close it down I mean after all people have even given birth in waiting rooms which is not safe at all.

I am sorry to hear about your experience in our Maternity Unit. I would like to explore what has happened here as we have worked very hard to improve care for mothers and babies. Please contact me through our PALS team on 01708 435 454, or by email PALS@bhrhospitals.nhs.uk and we can look into this further for you. Yours sincerely Wendy Matthews Interim Chief Nurse
