"Professionalism and care of surgical ..."

About: The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (King's Lynn)

(as the patient),

What I liked

Professionalism and care of surgical team. Hospital seemed clean.

The medical side of things was excellent. It's the supply of information to patients and organisation that lets it down.

What could be improved

Was completely in the dark as to time of my surgery (so were nurses on admission ward). Arrived at hospital at 7.30am to eventually be operated on at 1pm. Had not had any food or drink since the evening before. Admission ward was pretty chilly.

It was quite difficult to get information about being discharged - no-one seemed in a rush to tell me I could go. Wasn't given much information on post-discharge care of wounds.

Nurses seemed overworked. No-one did anything about mobiles being used on the ward or that some patients had hordes of visitors (the limit is 2 at a time).

Anything else?

Food was edible but not great. Maybe it would be better to ask patients in admission ward what they'd like for food when they get on their final ward after surgery. I left the hospital having had only one meal of my own choosing.

I was thankful I'd taken my own earplugs and eye shade otherwise I wouldn't have got much sleep.

The car park charges are a rip off.
