About: Royal Lancaster Infirmary

I attended A & E in early June after some persuasion as my previous experience at another Trust's hospital when I was having chest pains made me reluctant to go to the RLI. I thought that as with the last time I'd be told to stop wasting the doctors' time (it turned out I was having a panic attack, but I didn't know at the time I had anxiety disorder). Anyway, back to the RLI, the care from the receptionist, triage nurse and doctor who treated me and eventually admitted me was superb. I explained it could be my anxiety and I was sorry for burdening them, and they all overlooked this (very compassionately) and examined me thoroughly, finding out I was suffering pernicious anaemia and needed a transfusion (among other things). The subsequent care I had in the Acute Surgical Unit was exemplary, as was that in Ward 34 - the nurses there do a particularly sterling job and should be paid double. My experience of X ray, CT and ultrasound all similarly good as was my recent pre-op assessment.
