"Northern General - Lack of contact with surgeon "

About: Northern General Hospital

(as the patient),

My first time in hospital was for a hernia and the second admission was due to blood pouring from my backside, which was possibly because I overdosed on warfarin, but nobody was able to inform me on this. On my second stay in hospital I was told I could go home by a doctor at 8.30 in the morning. I had to wait 8 hours to see a further doctor for release and medication.

I thought it was wrong that I saw my surgeon before my hernia operation, but after that I did not see him again. I would have thought he should have seen me the following day to check everything was OK. The nurses were very good and caring though.
