What I liked Clacton Hospital Kate Grant Ward Approximately 2 months ago my mother was admitted to the Colchester hospital for an operation on her broken leg, then transferred to Clacton Hospital Kate Grant Ward for further treatment for a month. The nurses and doctors at both hospitals were extremely kind and caring beyond belief, especially when you see what they have to put up with. We would also like to thank the assessment team at Clacton Hospital. We have been trying to talk my mother into going into a care home for the past three years with no success the assesment team has managed to convince her that it would be the best place for her, considering she lives by herself and is 89 years old, the only thought on her mind was that we wanted to lock her away and that she would be locked in her room all day. It couldn't have been further from the truth. She was transferred from the hospital on Saturday the 20th of June to an interim care home, The Oaks in Great Bentley. I went to see her on Saturday, she was very upset and said, she hated it and wanted to be in her own home. She wanted me to take her home. I managed to get her talking to the residents and staff and convinced her to give it a chance for a week. She made me promise to take her out of there within the week if she didn't like it. My brother went to visit her on Monday and he said she was beginning to like the care home. I went to visit her today, Wednesday and now she loves it. She does not want to go back home and that's only after a few days. All the staff are fantastically friendly, helpful and caring. I watched them talking to the residents, helping them move around and feeding them. My family and myself would like to thank everyone for all their hard work and caring. Thank you Terry Brownson
