My 4 year old son recently had to come to RLI for a minor op. From arriving to leaving, all of the staff that we came into contact with were absolutely brilliant. The nurse was there whenever we needed them and was fab at putting myself and Isaac at ease. The play specialist did a great job in showing Isaac a book about how his day would be which really helped answer his questions in such a simple but effective way. The doctor and the anesthetist came to see Isaac both before and after the op and fully explained the procedure to myself and made me feel confident in their ability. Isaac knew nothing about having his cannula put in due the ingenious approach of the theatre nurses who distracted him playing a game on an ipad. I work at the RLI but don't have any professional contact with the children's ward - I was so so impressed about how the whole day was facilitated for Isaac and myself and we left both feeling very well cared for.
"Thank you to fab childrens ward staff!"
