"I was a patient on Aquarius ward from Feb-July 14"

About: Springfield University Hospital (London)

When I first arrived I was an informal patient, after a month and a half, I was put on a section. I went from selfharming a little to selfharming severely and endlessly trying to take my life. It was very easy to get your hands on something harmful and dangerous and the staff didn't seem to care until it was too late. Eventually I was moved to a secure unit. I do have to say though that the staff did do there best to make your time there 'fun' and did do a lot of activities with you. There was a lot of good groups that were quite helpful. Although there wasn't much talking therapy, when you did get to talk to the HCA's and Nurses, they did listen and take what you said seriously.

Dear Chelsea, my name is Jane and I am one of the Patient Experience Leads for the Trust. Many thanks for taking the time to tell us about your experience on Aquarius Ward. It's concerning to learn that your self-harming increased while you were on the ward and that you feel it was easy for you to find ways in which to harm yourself. I would be happy to investigate this further for you; if you would like me to do so then please either ring 0203 513 6150 or email complaints@swlstg-tr.nhs.uk

Kind regards

Jane
