At 49 years of age I've had to visit an A&E on a couple of occasions. This the second occasion it was at Ipswich Hospital, having been a pedestrian while at work involved in a road accident where I was struck on the lower arm and hand by a Minibus travelling at about 45mph, from my previous bad experience of A&E at Southend Hospital some 8 or 9 years earlier, I had a premonition that A&E would be a waste of time and space, because of this I initially declined to visit the department, but having my hand completely incapacitated all day and in pain the first aider at work insisted I went along. I therefore duly visited the A&E department at Ipswich, and was seen by "Triage" in about 15 minutes, and then waited and waited, hour after hour after hour, until I got so fed it seemed that being in pain after an RTC would be so much more bareable in the comfort of my own home, that I duly left. I guess only time will now tell how bad the injury is rather than the waste of time, money and space that is Ipswich A&E.
"Simply awful A&E Department."
